Rohansky Ostrov Masterplan

Dr Stellios Plainiotis and Cyril Leroy were requested by client Europolis to team up with architects KPF for a sustainable masterplan competition to revitalise the Rohansky Island (Prague 8) area on the Vltava River bank in Prague. The main characteristic of the planned development is the restoration of Rohansky Ostrov as an island.

The team developed the sustainability framework, which includes objectives, strategies and actions for energy, water, waste, materials, ecology and environmental quality. The team also produced the following studies:

  1. Wind environment and pedestrian wind comfort (based on CFD modelling)
  2. Microclimate Analysis (based on monitoring data and CFD modelling)
  3. Air Quality (based on monitoring data, CFD and Lagrangian modelling)
  4. Solar radiation (GIS based)
  5. Daylighting Design
  6. Building Energy Modelling
