Rohansky Ostrov Masterplan

Prague, Czechia

Dr Stellios Plainiotis consulted on Europolis’ sustainable masterplan competition entry, developed in collaboration with Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF), for the revitalisation of Rohansky Island (Prague 8) on the Vltava riverfront in Prague. A defining requirement of the brief was the restoration of Rohanský ostrov as an island.

He supported the development of the sustainability framework, including objectives, strategies and actions for energy, water, waste, materials, ecology and environmental quality. He also contributed the following technical studies:

  1. Wind environment and pedestrian wind comfort (CFD modelling)
  2. Microclimate analysis (monitoring data and CFD modelling)
  3. Air quality assessment (monitoring data, CFD and Lagrangian modelling)
  4. Solar radiation study (GIS-based)
  5. Daylighting design
  6. Building energy modelling
