Part of the 4million sq.ft. Lot 185 development in KLCC, the new Fairmont Hotel in Kuala Lumpur City Centre is targeted to become the first most environment friendly high rise Hotel in Malaysia with Gold certification under GBI rating system.
Part of the new Lot k/185 complex the building will use 50% less energy than a conventional hotel/restaurant by using ultra efficient equipment and the latest construction technology.
An intelligent guestroom energy management system will ensure that lighting as well as cooling system is powered down when guests are not in their rooms. Only the guestroom corridor light and a couple of outlets remain “on” when the guest removes the key card from the card slot located in the guestroom entry area. LED lighting in public spaces and in guestrooms further enhance the hotel’s energy efficiency. The sun’s energy heats hot water with 200 solar panels covering 400 m2 of rooftop (enough hot water for a hundred homes). This heats around 70% of the water for both the hotel and restaurant.
Low- and no-flow fixtures will save 50% of potable water and all irrigation will be provided by rainwater harvesting and condensate recovery system.
Low-emitting volatile organic compound (VOC) paints, adhesives, carpets, etc will reduce indoor air contamination.
