In 2009 Dr Stellios Plainiotis* teamed up with LKMD Architecture and LEAPP Aviation Consultants for the design competition of the proposed new Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2). The team won the competition, proposing a design that would achieve Platinum Rating with the Malaysian Green Building Index and Gold Rating with USGBC LEED. Stellios led the project’s Environmental Design & Engineering works (Concept and Detail Design).
