Situated on a 17km stretch of golden beach on the South Eastern tip of Johor and overlooking the South China Sea, Desaru Coast is an integrated premium destination with an extremely broad appeal. Desaru Coast brings together world class resorts, two aquatic theme parks, 45-holes of championship standard golf, a convention centre, a hospitality school and a beautiful waterfront retail village. To accommodate for future growth, DRH seeked to develop a masterplan with a focus on sustainable planning and development, optimising facilities, and enhancing the appeal and identity of the Desaru Coast to encourage community and social interaction.

NEAPOLI proposed a zoning plan with distinctive division between forest land use and the built environment. Reducing the harmful effects of stormwater runoff and creating/maintaining a diverse array of habitats are two key focus areas. The surrounding grounds will be arranged into native ecological zones. Some of these areas will act as vegetated buffer zones, which improve the site’s capacity to retain and filter stormwater, reducing harmful pollutants such as heavy metals before they enter the bay or groundwater aquifers.
