Cheras Columbarium is a memorial facility in the form of a tower that is designed to have a 100-year lifespan. The longevity of the building, paired with its purpose, demands an efficient yet sublime design decisions. Thus the building is designed to be cooled via passive and active cooling, making full use of natural ventilation in many spaces. The façade of the building is designed to allow air movement via cross ventilation, and is also designed to block incoming rain and glare from the tropical sun. All of these are simulated with our in-house simulation program to ensure an efficient building design without sacrificing the comfort of the building users.
