Dr Kerry Carne has worked in banking, government and the private sector in Cairns, Far North Queensland and Brisbane for 45 years. Born in Far North Queensland and moving to Brisbane in 1992, Kerry performed multiple roles in retail banking in Cairns and Brisbane, and moved on to the Queensland Government where she undertook policy advice, project management and budget management. Key reforms achieved included obtaining Cabinet committee approval for funding to build the Institute of Molecular Bioscience in the University of Queensland, preparing the Queensland Government for the imposition of the Goods and Services Tax and adoption of a whole-of-lifetime asset management regime. She holds multiple degrees in accounting and economics and is currently undertaking another in history and languages.
