In a significant stride towards a more sustainable future, NEAPOLI has been appointed by CIMB Bank for an ambitious energy retrofit and carbon reduction project. The venture aims for Menara CIMB to secure the prestigious Green Building Index (GBI) Silver or Gold Certification, demonstrating the bank’s firm commitment to environmental stewardship and responsible corporate practices.
This project is set to be directed by Abdul Rahman Ismail, NEAPOLI’s Principal Engineer, who brings a wealth of experience to the table. Rahman holds over a decade of professional experience in engineering and energy systems. A graduate from the RheinMain University of Applied Sciences, Maschinenbau, Germany, Rahman has developed a distinct expertise in sustainable building design, construction, and energy management.
His previous positions include managing various energy and sustainability projects for the National Bank of Malaysia (Bank Negara) and serving as the bank’s representative for the Financial Education Hub (FEH). These roles have shaped Rahman’s extensive understanding of energy system design and management in the financial sector, making him a natural fit for the Menara CIMB project.
The Green Building Index (GBI) is Malaysia’s premier rating system for eco-friendly buildings. It encourages sustainable practices by rating a building’s environmental design and performance, such as energy and water efficiency, sustainable site planning, and the use of green materials. The coveted GBI Certification, including the highest honour – a gold rating, inspires builders to adopt sustainable approaches throughout a building’s lifecycle.
