Appointment for the Kuala Lumpur 2050 Net Zero Carbon Roadmap

Kuala Lumpur, 10 April 2025.

We are honoured to be appointed to support Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) in developing the Kuala Lumpur 2050 Net Zero Carbon Roadmap, in collaboration with the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group.

This strategic initiative—guided by C40’s global expertise in urban decarbonisation—aims to steer Kuala Lumpur towards a climate-resilient, low-carbon future by 2050. The roadmap builds upon the KL Climate Action Plan (KLCAP2050) and aligns with ASEAN and global benchmarks.

The roadmap will address both operational and embodied carbon across building typologies and urban systems—marking a bold step forward for Malaysia’s capital in aligning with international climate goals such as the Paris Agreement.

Together with DBKL and key stakeholders, we aim to:

  • Establish science-based energy and carbon targets for new and existing buildings
  •  Integrate resilience and equity in building decarbonisation strategies
  •  Promote adoption of low-carbon technologies and passive design solutions
  •  Benchmark and reduce embodied carbon in construction
  •  Expand the Low Carbon Building Checklist (LCBC) and Building Vegetation Covering (BVC) implementation
  •  Support data transparency, policy design, and long-term governance mechanisms

We look forward to contributing our expertise to ensure Kuala Lumpur becomes a global exemplar of sustainable urban transformation.
