Advancing KL’s Climate Goals: Stakeholder Workshop on the Net Zero Carbon Roadmap

Kuala Lumpur, 10 June 2025.

Today, we hosted the Stakeholder Engagement Workshop for the Kuala Lumpur 2050 Net Zero Carbon Roadmap—an essential milestone in the city’s journey toward a climate-resilient, low-carbon future.

Held in collaboration with Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) and the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, the workshop brought together an exceptional group of stakeholders, including representatives from:

🔹 DBKL (Kuala Lumpur City Hall)
🔹 Green Building Index (GBI)
🔹 Malaysia Green Building Council (MGBC)
🔹 GreenRE
🔹 Energy Commission of Malaysia
🔹 And other key institutions from government, industry, and civil society

The session focused on:

  • Reviewing interim findings from the city-scale energy and carbon modelling
  •  Validating proposed operational and embodied carbon targets
  •  Discussing implementation pathways for the Low Carbon Building Checklist (LCBC) and Building Vegetation Covering (BVC)
  •  Identifying strategies for equitable and inclusive policy implementation
  •  Coordinating cross-sectoral contributions to the final roadmap

The insights shared today will directly inform the design of the Kuala Lumpur 2050 Net Zero Carbon Roadmap, set for release in July 2025.

We thank all participants for their active engagement and commitment. Together, we are co-creating a more sustainable, inclusive, and climate-safe Kuala Lumpur.
